As the holidays approach, I find myself asking the same quiet question: “Is it that time of year already?”Even here in Texas, where the seasons change more softly, the shift feels real—slightly cooler mornings, warm light in the afternoons, and that familiar sense of time moving just a little too quickly.
But this year, instead of rushing into the season, I’m taking a moment to pause and celebrate a small milestone: I finished my goldfish holiday fabric patterns, and I called it the Goodfish Holiday Pattern Collection.
The Inspiration Behind the Goldfish Holiday Fabric Pattern
This collection began with something simple: watching goldfish drift gently through water. There’s something soothing about the way they move—calm, effortless, and present. I paired them with soft holiday elements like starfish, sea plants, and festive touches to create a series of patterns that feel peaceful, coastal, and gently celebratory.
I wanted these designs to evoke a sense of quiet joy—a blend of ocean calm and holiday warmth.

From Painting to Fabric
All of the patterns are now available through my Spoonflower shop, just in time for holiday decorating, handmade gifts, or sewing projects.
I’m not a fast sewer myself, but I’ve already ordered a few yards to work with over the season. There’s something comforting about sewing slowly, letting the fabric and your hands move at their own pace. If you’re also someone who enjoys DIY projects this time of year—or you’ve been meaning to try—it’s a lovely way to create something personal.
A Note on Creative Time
Like many of you, my days are full. With family routines and work and everything in between, it’s not always easy to find space for art. This collection took time—quiet moments squeezed in between tasks, late-night painting sessions, and a lot of patience.
But that’s what makes it meaningful. It’s a reminder that you can still create, even if it’s in small, scattered pieces.
