Five colorful patterns: blue swans with pink ribbons, bows and hearts, flowers and leaves, more swans, and "You + Me" text with hearts.

You +Me Watercolor Collection

Every collection begins with a feeling.

For You + Me, that feeling came from noticing the small, everyday gestures that bring people closer. A shared glance across the room. A quiet kindness. A simple way of saying “I’m thinking of you” without needing many words. These moments are easy to overlook, but they are often the ones that stay with us the longest.

This watercolor collection was created to reflect that kind of connection, gentle, repeated, and meaningful in its own quiet way.

Introducing the You + Me watercolor collection

You + Me is a hand-painted watercolor surface design collection created as a cohesive set of patterns and illustrations designed to work together. Rather than focusing on a single piece, I approached this collection as a whole, thinking about balance, rhythm, and how individual designs could support one another.

The collection includes seamlessly repeating watercolor patterns alongside hero illustrations, each painted with softness and intention. While every piece can stand on its own, they were created to feel strongest when viewed together, connected by color, motif, and mood.

Patterns and illustrations, designed to complement each other

Patterns and illustrations play different roles in my work, and I like giving space to both.

Watercolor surface patterns allow for repetition and movement, creating a steady rhythm across fabric, paper, and decorative surfaces. Illustrations, on the other hand, offer a pause. They allow me to focus on emotion, expression, and storytelling in a more direct way.

In You + Me, these two elements work side by side. The patterns provide structure and flow, while the illustrations add moments of intimacy. Together, they form a collection that feels layered yet cohesive, flexible while remaining intentional.

Why watercolor felt right for this collection

Watercolor continues to be the medium I return to most often.

There is a softness to watercolor painting that I find grounding. It encourages patience and leaves room for small imperfections, edges that bleed, colors that shift unexpectedly. Instead of correcting these moments, I let them become part of the final work.

That sense of looseness and restraint felt especially important for this collection. The medium supports the feeling I wanted to convey, something natural, calm, and unforced.

Designed for versatility and licensing

While You + Me began as an emotional exploration, it was also created with versatility in mind.

The collection was designed to translate across a range of applications, including paper goods, gift items, fabric, and home décor. Each watercolor pattern and illustration maintains its character while adapting to different formats, making the collection suitable for licensing and collaboration without losing its identity.

This balance between feeling and function is something I value deeply in my surface pattern design work.

A quiet hope for the work

At its heart, You + Me is about connection.

My hope is that these designs offer a sense of warmth and thoughtfulness, whether they appear on something handmade, shared, or simply enjoyed visually. Romance, to me, doesn’t have to be dramatic or loud. It can live in small details and everyday moments.

That quiet presence is what I try to carry into every watercolor collection I create.
